Peripheral Neuropathy Acupuncture

Posted on December 18, 2011 by

Peripheral neuropathy can be painful and one way of dealing with the pain is acupuncture, and specifically peripheral neuropathy acupuncture.  More than 25% of people experience pain at least weekly.  The number of people with chronic pain is growing as American ages.

Acupuncture, among the oldest healing practices in the world, is part of traditional Chinese medicine. Acupuncture practitioners stimulate specific points on the body—most often by inserting thin needles through the skin. In traditional Chinese medicine theory, this regulates the flow of qi (vital energy) along pathways known as meridians.

According to the 2007 National Health Interview Survey, which included a comprehensive survey of CAM use by Americans, 1.4 percent of respondents (an estimated 3.1 million Americans) said they had used acupuncture in the past year. A special analysis of acupuncture data from an earlier NHIS found that pain accounted for 7 of the top 10 conditions for which people use acupuncture.

And if you like to cuddle up to a book on a cold winter evening, try “Complete Idiot’s Guide to Acupuncture and Acupressure“.  While this book does not specifically mention, peripheral neuropathy acupuncture, it is an excellent guide on dealing with pain with the use of acupuncture.

If you are interested in knowing more about acupressure and acupuncture, this guide covers all aspects of treatment from choosing a practitioner to follow-up exercises. It provides a comprehensive listing of medical ailments from acne to menopause that can be healed naturally.

And last but not least, you might be asking how much does peripheral neuropathy acupuncture cost?

Medicare does NOT cover acupuncture at this time.

Many insurance companies will cover acupuncture.  Give your company a call and ask.

Each session can cost from $75 to $150.  So, acupuncture can get expensive but it may be worth it if it deals with peripheral neuropathy pain successfully.
